DESCRIPTION Responsible for the quality plans that cover all components, subassemblies, and finished goods for adherence to dimensional, cosmetic and performance standards. Provide analytical data to improve internal and supplier performance. Spearhead key improvement programs to improve the overall quality of Weatherby products. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure review parts received are those specified on quality plans and product prints plans prior to use in production. Resolve issues with components by working with Supply Chain Manager or production team. Maintain quality control data with available QMS software to improve adherence to specifications. Guide and train production personnel and vendors in quality assurance techniques throughout the production process. Know and understand Weatherby products and processes. In concert with Engineering and Product Management, ensure quality from start to finish of all new and developing Weatherby products. Participate in and initiate continuous improvement and problem solving. ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain maintenance plans certification for inspection equipment and gaging. Assist in evaluation of field returns and report findings. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in business administration, mechanical engineering, or related field or equivalent from technical school; or 5 years Quality Control experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Competencies Communication proficiency Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Technical capacity Ability to read, analyze and understand technical drawings, documents, and specifications. Understanding of manufacturing systems Knowledge of inspection and testing methods Ability to read semi-complicated engineering drawings. Ability to perform advanced inspections. Ability to use devices including, but not limited to, micrometers, calipers, heights gauges, optical comparators, and coordinate measuring machine (CMM) Microsoft Suite and strong computer skills CNC programming desired SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD a plus Organizational skills Enjoys working in a team environment to achieve shared goals. Initiative "Can do" attitude. High level of self-initiative and reliability Resourceful Thorough High level of attention to detail Time management Ability to complete work and meet deadlines with limited supervision. Ability to manage, prioritize and balance multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Problem solving/analysis. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to create corrective action plans and procedures because of investigation and understanding of root cause of issues. Familiarity with structured problem-solving methods ACCOUNTABILITIES AND MEASURES Meet objective goals assigned during quarterly performance coaching. Maintain timely flow of product through the inspection area. Manage product related issues through final disposition in a timely manner. This job operates in a clerical office setting, routinely using standard office equipment including computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, this position will be exposed to the manufacturing/factory environment and be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
