Senior DocuWare Developer

Description:
We are currently seeking a highly skilled DocuWare Developer with Java experience to join our team on a project basis. The primary focus of this role will be to manage and execute the conversion of an older application from DocuWare 5.1 to DocuWare 6.12 or a later version. This position requires a deep understanding of document management systems, specifically DocuWare, and robust Java programming capabilities. The ideal candidate will assess the existing application architecture, identify potential issues, and successfully implement upgrades to enhance system performance and functionality. Job Responsibilities Assess the Current System : Evaluate the existing DocuWare 5.1 application to determine the best migration strategy to DocuWare 6.12. Plan and Implement Upgrades : Develop and execute a detailed migration plan, ensuring minimal disruption to existing workflows. Ensure Compatibility : Address compatibility issues between the old and new versions, including adjustments in custom scripts and integration points. Testing and Validation : Conduct thorough testing, including regression, performance, and security testing, to ensure the upgraded system functions as intended. Documentation : Maintain comprehensive documentation throughout the upgrade process for future reference and compliance. Technical Support and Troubleshooting : Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting during and after the implementation phase. Required Skills Proficiency in Java : Strong experience in Java programming, particularly in a document management context. Experience with DocuWare : Extensive experience with DocuWare, specifically versions 5.1 and 6.12, including knowledge of its API and customization capabilities. Problem-Solving Skills : Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of foreseeing and managing potential issues during the upgrade process. Project Management : Ability to manage projects effectively, meet deadlines, and communicate progress to stakeholders. Beneficial Skills (But Not Required) Experience with Other Document Management Systems: Familiarity with other DMS platforms like SharePoint, FileNet, or OpenText can be advantageous. Database Skills: Knowledge of SQL and experience with database management and migrations. Certifications: Certifications in Java and/or DocuWare are not required but would demonstrate proven expertise.
