Job Summary: Responsible for leading the development and documentation of advanced concepts and designs ofcomplex electronic and electro-mechanical products requiring Analog, RF and Digital design skills. Inaddition, responsible for the construction, test and evaluation of prototype units.Using engineering principles and design software, helps to design, develop and maintain electrical controlsystems and/or components to required specifications, focusing on economy, safety, reliability, qualityand sustainability. Duties and Responsibilities: • Provide conceptual design of complex Electronic and Electro-mechanical products, assembliesand components. Complete tasks according to schedule, budget, costs and design objectives.Monitor and report work progress.• Direct the efforts and provide technical guidance for Engineers, Designer, Drafter, Technician andToolmakers assigned to the project. Coordinate work with Engineers and others to ensure projectgoals and objectives are met.• Direct the manufacture, test and analysis of prototype units and mockups.• Act as lead designer of electrical/electronic PCBA's and fixturing. Document work by preparingSchematics, PCB layouts, drawings, Bills of Materials, ECN's and Engineering Release packagesto vendors. Select and specify tolerances, materials and processes for designs as required.Collaborate with and check the work of contractors as required to ensure accuracy andcompliance with company, national and international standards. Ensure that quality goals andobjectives are met.• Participate in or lead the creation of Engineering Specifications, cost, manpower, capital, andexpense estimates, along with task lists, milestones and schedules related to the development ofnew products.• Participate in or lead product development teams and interface with Manufacturing Engineer,Production, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Vendors, Subcontractors and Customers on issuesrelated to design, manufacture, use of parts or products.• Provide input to maintain documentation, standards and guidelines such as revision control,libraries, common components, layer lists, database management, etc.• Maintain technical proficiency in design and ECAD skills.• Maintain awareness of competitive products and developments.• Maintain optimum working conditions and housekeeping. Comply with safety rules andregulations.• Assume additional roles and responsibilities as required. Qualifications: • Documentation of Instruments with Digital, RF and Analog Circuits and specification of electronicand electro-mechanical components. Experience in compact, low power (1.5-3VDC) circuitdesign.• RF and low power analog and digital circuit design.• Demonstrated skill in the conceptual design and layout of Instruments. Skill in the design anddocumentation of schematics, PCB Layout, Component Selection, Cables, Wire harnesses etc.• Skilled in the use of ECAD tools for developing schematics and PCB layouts (Altium).• Familiarity or experience of certification processes for FCC, CE and international equivalents• Understanding of microprocessor-based firmware in Assembly and Higher-level code.• Skilled in the use of spreadsheet and word processing tools.• Experience with one or more of the following tools and methods; Design of Experiments, Designfor Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA)• Basic understanding of electro-mechanical design is required.• Ability to understand microprocessor-based firmware in higher level language such as C and C++ Education Requirements: Minimum 2 Year Associate Degree AS Electrical Engineering acceptable with courses such as Digital and Analog Design and the equivalent of 8 years' experience in the design of Instruments, production applications and manufacturing techniques to attain sufficient engineering background. Preferred 4 Year Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering Preferred Graduate Degree MS Years Of Experience: Minimum 5 years' experience in design and documentation of Instruments with Digital, RF and Analog Circuits and specification of electronic and electro-mechanical components.
