POSITION SUMMARY Applications Engineers work with customers to ensure a smooth sales process and maintain and grow existing business. Application Engineers must possess excellent customer service skills and ensure that orders are entered accurately, in a timely manner, and achieve proper margin. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Does not encompass all duties. Coordinate with sales, production, and engineering in a professional manner. Coordinate with the customer throughout the project phase so that they are current on project status and up to date on any issues that arise during the production process. Build relationships with key vendors such as Siemens, Mitsubishi, ABB, and Eaton. Provide project quotes in a timely and accurate manner. Develop quickly to read municipal specifications and quote panels including surge protection, power distribution, VFD, RVSS, and multi-pump control, PLCs, HMIs, timing circuits, etc. Coordinate with inside sales regarding project needs. Discuss project needs with key customers; quote custom electrical panels; modify existing designs for customization (add communications devices, surge protection, etc.) Coordinate with production to meet timelines and design around supply chain issues. REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES Ability to work/learn engineering software EPLan to: Create 2D/3D electrical drawings and layouts that will be used during the production process. Create Bills of materials Learn about the product lines to: Recommend products. Design around project requirements Swap products depending on supply chain issues. Learn electrical engineering design principals such as: Wire sizing Breaker / Fuse sizing Component spacing / Wire Bending NEC and UL Codes Component requirements Support customer and sales staff as needed.
