This role offers substantial growth opportunities within a collegial environment.Duties:Take depositions and advocate motions and contested matters in courtReceive progressive training with increasing levels of responsibilityCollaborate across practice groups and office locationsEngage in business development activitiesWork remotely two days per weekRequirements:3-6 years of experience in litigating bankruptcy, restructuring, or creditors’ rightsStrong working knowledge of Bankruptcy Code, local rules, UCC, and secured transactionsSignificant experience in motions practice, contested matters, or adversary proceedingsAbility to think quickly and pivot under pressureProficiency in deposition preparation and executionExcellent research and writing skillsTeam player with an interest in relationship-building internally and externallyCultural competency to work effectively with diverse attorneys, staff, and clientsHighly motivated self-starter adaptable to a fast-paced environmentExcellent written and oral communication skillsOutstanding law school credentials and referencesEducation and Certifications:Juris Doctor (J.D.) degreeAdmitted to practice law in IllinoisSkills:Litigation skillsLegal researchWritingCommunicationCollaborationBusiness developmentBenefits:Competitive salariesQuality benefits programsWorkplace flexibilityOne-on-One Career CoachingProfessional development opportunities This full-service firm in Chicago has a nationally recognized reputation in many of its practice areas. With additional offices throughout the Midwest and the East Coast, the firm has over 200 lawyers ready to serve their clients. New associates are assigned to one of five sections: Bond/Municipal Finance, Business, Labor, Litigation, or Real Estate. New associates are encouraged to let the firm know what areas interest them, but all attorneys are expected to be willing to work in a wide variety of areas. New associates are also provided with early client contact. While some associates arent ecstatic with the firms bonus structure, this mid-tier firm does pay higher than many similar firms in the area.
