Job Overview The Senior Manager, Fabric leverages their fabric knowledge, strategic thinking, and collaborative skills to deliver cost-effective elevated fabrics to our Private Brands. Partnering with Design and PD, they source and develop core and seasonal fabric palettes, focusing on price, aesthetics, and quality. This role demands a strong development and technical background in various fabric types and an understanding of garment application.Their responsibilities encompass fabric from initial concept through bulk delivery; including researching, sourcing, allocating, and developing fabric based on seasonal design concepts, trends, and requests. Reporting to the Director of Raw Materials, the Senior Manager supports partners within Private Brands, collaborating with Design, Product Development, Sustainability, and PIQA.Efficient collaboration within the Materials Team ensures a thoughtful approach to developing new and elevated fabrics, building a fabric library, and establishing a preferred supplier matrix. What You Will Do Strategy & Innovation: Lead the multi-season end-to-end fabric development process to enhance innovation, productivity, efficiency, quality, and profitability, ensuring commercial viability. Establish and operate within a cost framework that meets internal stakeholders' needs while maximizing cost of goods savings. Assist in Raw Material Sourcing Strategy, collaborating with the Director of Raw Materials to minimize risk, enhance efficiencies, and optimize materials and suppliers. Collaborate with fabric suppliers and garment vendors to deliver highly innovative fabrics and offer technical support. Assess current fabrics, identifying areas for improvement and evolution to align with the brand's product roadmaps in terms of allocation and cost. Communicate quality, performance attributes, and usage expectations to cross-functional teams by meticulously reviewing all fabric specifications and testing requirements. Conduct analysis to recommend preferred suppliers and fabrics. Analyze cost components and the global raw material market to provide negotiation support data. Attend global material exhibitions to research trends and explore potential new suppliers. Operations & Results: Collaborate with Product Development to ensure quality execution and aid in cost negotiations to meet margin goals. Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement, optimization, elevation, sustainability, quality enhancement, cost reduction, and production efficiency. Establish and maintain a Fabric library with new collections and development reference cards. Proficiently utilize PLM, Microsoft Suite, and Design tools like Canva and Adobe XD. Optimize core fabric within and across divisions to maximize savings and minimize development numbers. Manage the calendar and lead the team to meet seasonal milestone dates. Relationship Management: Effectively communicate and follow up with internal and external partners globally, including internal stakeholders, material suppliers, and garment vendors. Coordinate supplier meetings for seasonal development and trend research, ensuring fabrics are presented with associated costs. Support Product Development through proto and bulk development to maintain constant alignment on cost and quality. Skills You Will Need Fabric Knowledge : Expertise in fabric types, techniques, technologies, and applications, enabling informed decision-making throughout the development process. Strategic Thinking : Ability to align fabric development with brand objectives, market trends, and cost considerations, driving innovation and profitability. Collaboration Skills : Strength in partnering with Design, Product Development, and other stakeholders to source, develop, and deliver fabric solutions that meet quality, aesthetic, and cost targets. Development and Technical Background : Demonstrated proficiency in fabric development processes, including researching, sourcing, allocating, and evaluating fabric based on design concepts and trends. Entrepreneurial Mindset : Proactive problem-solving approach with a focus on finding innovative solutions and opportunities for improvement. Team Leadership : Experience managing a team, fostering a positive working environment, and guiding individuals to meet collective goals. Communication Skills : Exceptional communication and presentation skills, facilitating effective collaboration with internal and external partners globally. Negotiation and Vendor Management : Strong negotiation skills and experience in managing vendor relationships to optimize costs and ensure quality standards. Supply Chain and Sustainability Knowledge : Understanding of supply chain traceability, road mapping, and sustainable materials development, contributing to the brand's sustainability objectives. Organizational Skills : Superior organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities effectively. System Proficiency : Expertise in using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Microsoft Suite, and other relevant software tools, with familiarity with Canva as a plus. Adaptability and Dealing with Ambiguity : Ability to thrive in dynamic environments, comfortably navigating change, uncertainty, and ambiguity while maintaining focus and driving results.
