We set them. Job Summary: Join our dynamic team as a Lead Product Engineer driving the development of cutting-edge Underwriting software for Allstate's Affordable, Simple, and Connected products. In this Agile environment, you'll own the end-to-end development of backend services, with occasional involvement in frontend components. Your role is pivotal in ensuring product agility, quality, and user satisfaction. As a key decision-maker, you'll champion simplicity in technology and design choices. The Lead Product Engineer architects and designs their digital products using modern tools, technologies, frameworks, and systems. They apply a systematic application of scientific and technological knowledge, methods, and experience to the design, implementation, testing, and documentation of software. They own and manage running their application in production, and ultimately becomes accountable for the success of their digital products through achieving KPIs. Key Responsibilities: Participates in iteration planning meetings ensuring that the team has a common understanding of each story and chores in a team s backlog Leads and participates in daily site, cross-site, and product team standups Participates in retrospectives to gather feedback and derive actionable items to improve the team and the product Participates in executing the strategy, keeping the customer needs and wants in mind Serves as an expert on a specific business domain and demonstrates leadership and accountability on at least one technology stack Provides input into the architecture and design of the product: collaborating with the team in solving problems the right way Practices daily paired programming and test-driven development in writing software and building product Establishes continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous deployment pipelines and practices Provides support for software products in user environments Coaches more junior team members around different technologies Functional Skills: Required skills/knowledge: Strong understanding of computer science concepts, object-oriented design principles 6 plus years of hands-on software development experience with Java and J2EE technologies such as Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring IOC, Spring Annotations, Spring AOP, Spring Transactions and Spring Security Strong on REST API's including tooling for documentation (Swagger), versioning, service discoverer/registration and testing and familiarity with microservice architecture is required. Solid knowledge of database design, indexes design, complex queries, and implementation on any NOSQL databases like MongoDB Creating products within Test Driven Development; including knowledge and experience in testing frameworks such as Junit Utilize continuous integration and DevOps methodologies, preferred tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, SonarQube, Gradle, Maven, etc. Contribute to the code base and ensure code and processes adhere to clean code practices and industry/application best practices Ability to mentor/coach team members Experience working in an Agile/Scrum work environment Desired skills: Any front end technologies like JavaScript, React, and/or Angular Utilize quality and security scan tools such as Sonar, Fortify and Contrast, or similar Experience with messaging systems such as Kafka or similar tools Practical cloud knowledge with technologies such as PCF, AWS or other cloud technologies Education and Experience: * 4 year Bachelors Degree (Preferred) * 5 or more years of experience (Preferred) * In lieu of the above education requirements, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this job. Compensation offered for this role is $84,500.00-$149,750.00 per year and is based on experience and qualifications. Good Hands.
