The Wardensville Garden Market is one of our social enterprises providing real-life learning experiences for Appalachian youth. At our Market, we not only provide learning opportunities, we provide an extraordinary customer experience. We are seeking a full-time Market Assistant Manager to provide retail and operational support to our vibrant and thriving market. This position reports to the Market Manager. RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise and be responsible for the market area and staff, including Junior Crew. Maintain the cleanliness of the market, instruct students in tasks, keep market items fully stocked, and ensure all customers get the highest quality customer service experience. Show leadership and ownership of the Market and its staff and ensure all day-to-day activities are being completed to Wardensville Garden Market standards. Maintain accurate product inventory and sourcing KEY QUALIFICATIONS 18 years old or older Passionate about local food products and systems Passionate about working for a youth-driven nonprofit organization Must have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience Must have a valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and ability to stand for long periods of time Ability to take direction and demonstrate initiative when necessary Ability to work alone or with a team on various projects Ability to read charts, do minor data entry, and interpret sales metrics Must have leadership/management experience or related educational qualifications Must be reliable, have strong communication skills, and demonstrate an eagerness to learn Must have a friendly and positive demeanor Must have weekend availability Experience working in a retail environment or in a customer service setting is a BONUS! EXPECTED WORK SCHEDULE This full-time position is expected to work 40 hours per week, five days a week, inclusive of mornings, evenings, weekends and some government holidays.The Wardensville Garden Market is currently open Thursday through Monday, the majority of shifts will occur during those days. We currently operate with staffing between 8am and 7pm year round, and between 8am and 9pm during the Summer, which is subject to change. COMPENSATION This position is classified as exempt with an annual salary starting at $39,520.00. In 2016, Farms Work Wonders started with the Wardensville Garden Market project—an organic farm and farm stand.
