Safely operate and drive various types of trucks, including tractor-trailers, long-combination vehicles, and straight-body trucks. Efficiently plan and manage trip logistics while obtaining the necessary documentation for transporting goods. Conduct comprehensive pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections on vehicle systems, equipment, and accessories like brakes, tires, lights, and cold storage. Adhere to safety protocols by properly securing cargo, especially hazardous materials, and following all safety procedures. Record essential information such as cargo details, fuel consumption, hours of service, and distance traveled. Manage bills of lading accurately and keep meticulous log books, either manually or using electronic systems. Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and fellow drivers via onboard computers and communication devices. Display the ability to perform basic roadside repairs in case of emergencies. Collaborate seamlessly within a team or convoy for specific assignments. Transport hazardous products or dangerous goods in strict compliance with regulations and safety guidelines.
