Assignment description: Woodsworth College invites applications for the position of writing instructor. Instructors can expect to see students with writing assignments from a variety of disciplines. Instructors may also be asked to deliver group instruction on general writing skills or other areas of study skills. Estimate of the number of positions available : 8-11 Hours of Work: Contracts vary in size depending on applicant seniority, availability, and the Centre’s needs, but typically range from 50 to roughly 60 hours; more hours may be added later if demand warrants. Schedule Information : Hours will be scheduled by mutual agreement in due course, depending on the needs of the Centre. Please note that, in keeping with current circumstances, instruction will be conducted both in-person and online. This may change as determined by the Faculty or the College. Sessional dates of appointment : May 1, 2024, to August 31, 2024 Salary : Writing Instructor 1: $53.41 per hour, plus vacation pay Writing Instructor 1 Long Term: $56.07 per hour, plus vacation pay Writing Instructor 2: $57.42 per hour, plus vacation pay Writing Instructor 2 Long Term: $58.58 per hour, plus vacation pay Writing Instructor 2 (Priority): $59.11 per hour, plus vacation pay Writing Instructor 2 (Priority) Long Term: $60.29 per hour, plus vacation pay Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail. Minimum qualifications : A Master’s degree plus relevant experience teaching writing one-on-one and/or teaching in university courses with a significant writing instruction component; having both kinds of experience would be a strong advantage. Preferred qualifications : Ph D, familiarity with Woodsworth College’s specific programs and student body, training and experience in second-language instruction at the university level.
