General Purpose:Ensure that all equipment is operating effectively and efficiently, including preventative maintenance, overhauls, modification, fabrication, welding, and mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair. Assist maintenance management and provide training, work direction, and guidance as needed to ensure all work performed meets department and plant expectations.--Job Duties and Responsibilities:Dedicate effort to safety as we expect every employee to leave work in the same condition as they arrivePerform preventative maintenance and repairs of production and processing equipment as well as utility related equipment in compliance with all safety proceduresSupport the installation of new equipment, support and implementation of preventive maintenance programAssist the machine operators with training or troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtimeEnsure all repairs are documentedKeep management informed of any maintenance issuesComplete work orders as assignedFollow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirementsExhibit the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, and sound judgmentFollow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements.Attend required training, including but not limited to Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF)The requirements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employee, but is not a complete list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required. Other duties may be assigned as required.--Minimum Requirements:Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)4 years of maintenance work experience in industrial setting--Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems, specifically SAPKnowledge of machine shop equipmentKnowledge of pneumatics, solenoid valves, and air cylindersSkill in proficient computer usageAble to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writingAble to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamworkAble to follow directions and meet deadlinesAble to perform all required preventative, productive, predictive, and scheduled maintenance proceduresAble to perform task and duties without constant supervisionAble to understand the basic types of controls used in the plant and how they affect the processAble to perform minor electrical work (i.e., change pump motors and diagnose motor control problems)Able to use standard maintenance toolsAble to perform routine repairs and minor projects from planning to installationAble to perform routine preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment, identify any abnormal conditions, and maintain appropriate recordsAble to perform basic welding for repair and fabrication (mig/tig/stick)Able to follow process control computer variables, schematics, and diagnose system problemsAble to assist other mechanics on more complicated repairs in a safe and useful mannerInitiative - shows willingness and aptitude to use own discretion in taking appropriate steps in finding solutions to problems; presents options and ideas to enhance current processes or procedures. Takes on additional responsibility when both big and small tasks need to be done.Integrity - Firmly adheres to the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America.
