Summary of Responsibilities The Official Scorer is to score each home game during the Springfield Cardinals regular & post-season, in accordance with official scoring rules. Scorers will fill out the official scorecard for each game. Essential Functions of the Job Score games accurately and communicate information and decisions clearly to the Gameday Stringer for data entry Keep score in the official scorebook during games Review box score after games and ensure there are no omissions or errors on it Review scoring disputes with field managers when they arise Make periodic announcements over internal public address system informing press level of official game information, player substitutes, scoring decisions and more Education & Experience Required Background working in or playing professional and/or collegiate baseball Prior experience as an Official Scorer in professional and/or collegiate baseball Exceptional knowledge of baseball and official scoring rules Familiarity with Double-A Baseball and expected level of quality of play Strong knowledge of how to properly keep score in a scorebook Good written and verbal communication skills Good decision-making ability under pressure
