Duties: Develop statewide consortium of refugee MH/BH providers to identify needs/challenges, share strategies and best practices, and coordinate MH/BH service provision for refugees across the state Develop knowledge of MH/BH resources available to resettlement agencies (including service providers, community resources, online resources, and state and national initiatives) Develop strategies for disseminating information on MH/BH resources to local resettlement agencies and their partners Establish regular communication with resettlement agencies and partners to remain up to date on MH/BH programs, challenges, and resource needs Respond to requests by resettlement agencies and MH/BH service providers for additional resources Provide training opportunities for mainstream MH/BH providers about how to effectively engage with refugee clients, including cultural competency and trauma-informed care Coordinate with USCRI on the provision of MH/BH services to refugees Facilitate the development of relationships and bridging of services between MH/BH service providers and refugee resettlement agencies Attend trainings and info sessions on refugee MH/BH issues Implement Office of Refugee Resettlement recommendations and directives within the state refugee program structure Increase refugee community awareness of MH/BH programs Other: Operate out of Kansas City, MO Communicate with local resettlement agencies and others on issues involving MH/BH Participate in task forces, advocacy groups on the national, state and local levels where appropriate Participate in community activities around MH/BH Present information to groups on refugee MH/BH Develop and track specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) annual program outcomes for all activities. Performing other related duties and activities as appropriate Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to interpret and adhere to established policies and procedures; Effective interpersonal and communication skills; Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, Internet research and a high comfort level in working with computer systems; Must exercise good judgment, courtesy, and tact in dealing with the public, and in giving and obtaining information; Must have knowledge of and the ability to adhere to confidentiality standards; Must be able to focus on details and ensure accuracy in reporting and giving information; Must be cordial in working under pressure and/or meeting deadlines; Ability to follow tasks through to completion; Must be able to work well both independently as well as part of a team; Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to travel out of town as needed; Knowledge of the field of refugee resettlement Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree with at least one year of relevant work experience required or equivalent; Prefer experience working in refugee services field and/or MH/BH program The above statements describe the job's essential responsibilities and requirements.
